Here is a pic of the "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" house, they used this one in the movie.
After coffee in the park(pictured above), we packed up and headed toward Charleston. We arrived in Charleston around 1230. After a little yelp searching, we found a cute restaurant right on the water called Fleet Landing. The chilled crab dip was very yummy, and the atmosphere was nice. After lunch we still had some time before checking into our new HOTWIRE deal of the day! We found a great hotel called The Mills House, a gorgeous hotel, right in the historic downtown area!
We love our little hotel. Here are some pics of the interior, very old time gals lol
Since we had some time before check-in, we decided on doing a tour. My personal favorites are historic sites and mansions, so we headed to the Drayton Hall, which is a plantation house from 1742! Its the oldest preserved plantation house in the country!
The tour was very interesting and HOT, obviously there was no AC back then, so we were very sweaty.
The house was gorgeous, and right on the Ashley River.
I had Tyler take a picture in the privy, which is a shed that held 7 toilets lol
The woman at the Drayton Hall gave us a great tip while we were there. Apparently our hotel serves the BEST She- Crab Soup in all of Charleston, so that was our next move.
We went back to out hotel and got ready for a night out on the town. Our plan was She-Crab soup, then a walk to Market Street, Dinner, and a SPOOKEY ghost tour of Charleston. The SHE-Crab was soooo amazing. After we walked toward Market street to a lovely Italian restaurant that had some live jazz music called Mercato. I had mussels from Prince Edward Island that had a pesto white wine sauce, and Ty had mushroom risotto, both delicious. We were supposed to make it to our ghost tour at 8pm, but dinner ran a little longer, and we missed it. So, instead we did a little stroll down market, and bought some gifts.
Tomorrow we have a full day of driving. We are heading toward Williamsburg, Virginia. We figured there will be lots of haunted tours there, since its city full of history. First stop though is SOUTH OF THE BORDER, random place in between North and South Carolina. So far no one has given us an exact explanation of what goes on there, but it sounds interesting. Since it's our half way point, we will be stopping there around noon.
Stay tuned! G'night ya'll!
