Clams, Oysters, Crabs-OH MY!

After leaving Seacrets we decided to head to the boardwalk and hang out on the beach.

This is the view from the deck on the second floor of our hotel

The taller building to the left of the Somerset sign was our hotel

Find me in the picture!

Me in my rocking chair- taking it all in.

After a little walking on the boardwalk we headed to On the Bay for some fresh Maryland Blue Crabs and Oysters!

We ordered some large maryland blue crabs, a dozen oysters, and corn on the cob!

SEACRETS

What do you get if you combine Montys in Miami, Spring Break in Key West, and Ocean City Maryland??

SEACRETS!

It's a restaurant, bar, club, beach all in one place! Pretty amazing. They have these circular floats that are like floating booths, so your group can sit in the water and drink.  They have floating bar stools too! The waitress comes out to the water to take your order, so you never have to leave.  There's a dj in one section, and a live band in another. It was pretty overwhelming when we got there, since we had been in these quiet small towns all week. Yikes! Whats going to happen to us when we get to NYC????

Ocean City!

We left Williamsburg on Friday morning and headed up highway 13 along the eastern shore of Virginia  and the Chesapeake Bay.  Half way to Maryland we stopped at The GREAT Machipongo Clam Shack in Nassawadox, Virginia.  It was cute little place, the building kind of resembled an old McDonalds.

Steamed Little Neck Clams

We had some delicious Clams, and then headed back on the road again.  We had high expectations for when we arrived in Ocean City- fresh oysters, clams, and tons of Maryland Blue Crabs!  Which are a pain to eat, but worth it in the end!

A few hours later we were in Ocean City Maryland.  Its a beach town, with a board walk kind of similiar to Atlantic City, but a lot cleaner and nicer.  We found a very charming little hotel called the Atlantic right on the boardwalk.  It is the oldest hotel in Ocean City, and is still owed by the same family who bought it in 1920.  It's very old school, but has a nice warm feel to it.  Our room was funny, the sink was outside of the bathroom, in the bedroom, for those of you who remember my old room in my house in Tallahassee, it was just like that!

Kind of looks like a grannys house

CRABtastic!

Ocean City, Maryland!
Stay tuned!  There are videos coming and more photos!

Boo!

We arrived in Williamsburg around 4pm. It was a looong drive!  The only stop after the lovely South of the Border was Dunn, North Carolina.  "Dunn Nuttin in Dunn, North Carolina" that's their slogan.  lol
Once we were in Williamsburg we scouted for a hotel, since Hotwire was too unreliable.  We wanted to be close to the Colonial village, Merchant Street area.  So we ended up at Governor's Inn, which was pretty much walking distance.   We settled in and picked up some maps from the lovely Southern lady at the front desk, who has lived in Williamsburg her whole life...geez.

We started our walk back in time.  There is one main street that has an old post office from the 18th century, and cute little shops that sold balls of soap and old fashioned candy.  Everyone in the stores are dressed up in their colonial early settler attire. We walked the main street, which was really beautiful.

I'm having fun lol

Okay this picture its actually very cool.  Look at the top right side, that yellow dot in the picture.  It's a ghost!

Horses!

Sheep! I was really into the sheep.

We also saw the capital building and the jail from the 1700s.

This is the Jail....Down the street from a small grave yard.

After a lot of walking ( it was extremely hot too, close to 95 degrees) we were tired and went back to the Governors Inn to get ready for our ghost tour and dinner.

I was all excited for the ghost tour.  I wanted to go on the tour for adults only, no kids allowed, the really scary stuff.  So, I called to buy our tickets for The Ghost Amongst Us tour, and it was all BOOKED already! I was so mad!

So, after dinner around 10:30 at night we drove to the jail in the colonial village. It was so dark, and there was not a soul around.  We pulled up right in front rolled down the windows, and turned off the car. And listened.

We both heard it!  I swear on my life!  Foot steps walking on gravel! We couldn't believe it.  We turned on the car again, pulled forward, and listened for a second time. There it was, the sound of foot steps!

So, in the end, I got my ghost tour after all.

Bought fireworks, and decided to head on out.

Hi Ya'LL

We left Savannah today after a nice stroll through Forsyth Park.  We pretty much saw everything we needed to see.
Here is a pic of the "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" house, they used this one in the movie.
After coffee in the park(pictured above), we packed up and headed toward Charleston.  We arrived in Charleston around 1230.  After a little yelp searching, we found a cute restaurant right on the water called Fleet Landing.  The chilled crab dip was very yummy, and the atmosphere was nice.  After lunch we still had some time before checking into our new HOTWIRE deal of the day!  We found a great hotel called The Mills House, a gorgeous hotel, right in the historic downtown area!

We love our little hotel.  Here are some pics of the interior, very old time gals lol

Since we had some time before check-in, we decided on doing a tour.  My personal favorites are historic sites and mansions, so we headed to the Drayton Hall, which is a plantation house from 1742! Its the oldest preserved plantation house in the country!

The tour was very interesting and HOT, obviously there was no AC back then, so we were very sweaty.

The house was gorgeous, and right on the Ashley River.

I had Tyler take a picture in the privy, which is a shed that held 7 toilets lol

The woman at the Drayton Hall gave us a great tip while we were there.  Apparently our hotel serves the BEST She- Crab Soup in all of Charleston, so that was our next move.

We went back to out hotel and got ready for a night out on the town.  Our plan was She-Crab soup, then a walk to Market Street, Dinner, and a SPOOKEY ghost tour of Charleston.  The SHE-Crab was soooo amazing.  After we walked toward Market street to a lovely Italian restaurant that had some live jazz music called Mercato.  I had mussels from Prince Edward Island that had a pesto white wine sauce, and Ty had mushroom risotto, both delicious.  We were supposed to make it to our ghost tour at 8pm, but dinner ran a little longer, and we missed it.  So, instead we did a little stroll down market, and bought some gifts.

Tomorrow we have a full day of driving.  We are heading toward Williamsburg, Virginia.  We figured there will be lots of haunted tours there, since its city full of history.  First stop though is SOUTH OF THE BORDER, random place in between North and South Carolina.  So far no one has given us an exact explanation of what goes on there, but it sounds interesting.  Since it's our half way point, we will be stopping there around noon.

Stay tuned! G'night ya'll!
