Day 1 Ends

Had a nice walk down the river before eating at Paula Deans.

Next stop was Lady and Sons.  We ended up sharing a bbq peach grouper and some southern food from the buffet.  The fried chicken was delicious, and so was the grouper.  We tried Paula's signature butter cake, which was soooo buttery and sugary.  A little much, but what do you expect from Paula.

Here's a pic of the fried chicken.  Doesn't look that appetizing, but it was good.

After we had a walk through the spanish moss.

And then went to watch the heat game at a cute pub where we met a nice southern gentleman,  who suggested Williamsburg, VA for one of our stops.

Here's the pub in downtown.  Find the Queen of England in the pic below.

Here's a pic of us at the pub.

Tomorrow we will be heading to Forsyth Park for coffee and breakfast, and then doing a little site seeing.  We will be on the road around 1pm heading towards Charleston.

It is HOT!

We arrived in Savannah at 215pm, so a little earlier then expected.  We had 2 stops along the way.  One at McDonalds so Tyler could get his bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, which he refers to as his little piece of heaven.  And the second stop was at just outside of jacksonville for gas.  Not that exciting.

This is me driving the second shift.  Hands at 10 and 2, just like I learned in drivers ed!

Jacksonsville Bridge, only cool thing in Jacksonville.

Once we got to Savannah we were STARVING, but it was close to 3pm.  So, finding a restaurant open for  lunch was going to be difficult.  We started walking towards the river, and passed by a really good restaurant that had very high yelp reviews, something called the Pink Carriage House.  It looked delicious, but they were only serving their "snack" selection, and Tyler was hunnnngry, so that wasn't going to work.  We walked toward the cute main street that had some restaurants, but nothing was really open.  We found a restaurant called Anna's.  I will never go to another restaurant again without yelping first! The decor was very random as you can tell in the pictures below.

Tyler with Marilyn and me with the fish tank and weird man face.  LOL
The only thing on the menu we thought was safe, after reading reviews once we sat down, was the pizza.  Which was good, reminded me of the tortizzas we used to make in college.  Tortilla with sauce and cheese, it was a little small to share, so after we went for frozen yogurt, which was delicious!  Here is a pic of the lame pizza.

We are making up for the lunch by going to Paula Dean's restaurant, Lady & Sons, for some good ol southern cooking.  By the way, its like 95 degrees outside! HOT HOT HOT

On the road

On the road at 7am on the dot.  Morning started good with little traffic and some coffee in our travel mugs. We had a slight struggle with the what to listen to.. sports radio or 90s music station that was on sirius  (which luckily was having a free trial week that ends exactly the day we arrive in Ny). Tyler ended up winning and we listened to sports radio, I think he didn't want to have to hear me sing along. According to our navigation we are set to arrive in savannah at 220pm.  We ended up finding a great deal on hotwire last night for The Hilton for 92 dollars tax and everything. Its located right in the historic district. Not sure if we will make it to Paula Deans restaurant, the reviews said it's very hard to get a table. Instead we might yelp it up, and find a great southern restaurant close to the hotel.
